Privacy Policy

WedThread ("we", "our", or "us") operates WedThread (the "App"), which helps users save, organize, and categorize links and images for wedding planning. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices and rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account information

  • Email address — when you create an account with email, or when you sign in with Apple or Google and authorize sharing of email (or related account details allowed by that provider).
  • User ID — a unique identifier assigned to your account for authentication and to associate your data with you.
  • Profile and activity fields we store — such as save counts, last activity timestamps, and preferences needed to run the App (for example, notification-related preferences where applicable).

User content

  • URLs and links — addresses you save, including metadata we derive or fetch (such as page titles, descriptions, and thumbnails where available).
  • Photos and images — images you upload or share into the App (including via the iOS Share Extension).
  • Notes, tags, categories, and similar organizational data — text and labels you add or that we suggest for your saved items.

Optional shared collection links

  • If you turn on sharing for a collection, we generate a unique link that allows anyone who has that link to view that collection in a web browser without signing in. Depending on your settings, the shared view may include page titles, thumbnails or images associated with your saves, categories, source links, and notes if you choose to include them. Shared links are not listed in a public directory; access is limited to people you give the link to, unless someone else forwards the link. You can turn sharing off at any time in the App (including per collection). When sharing is off, the link stops working for new visits. We may log standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) when someone loads a shared page, for security, abuse prevention, and reliability, consistent with our providers' logging practices.

Device and technical information

  • Push notification token — if you allow notifications on your device, we may store an Apple push token associated with your account so we can deliver notifications you have opted into.
  • Standard technical data — such as app/platform type associated with your token, and operational logs our service providers process when you use the App (for example, security and reliability logging).
  • Advertising and measurement data — when you use the App, our advertising measurement partners may receive device and app interaction data, such as app installs and launches, in-app events (for example, account registration, opening the subscription screen, and completing a subscription), device identifiers permitted by your device settings, and related technical data used to measure the performance of WedThread's advertising campaigns. If you allow tracking when iOS prompts you ("Allow App to Track"), more precise measurement may be enabled; if you do not allow tracking, measurement is more limited.

Purchase information

  • We use RevenueCat to help manage subscriptions. We receive subscription status information needed to unlock features. We do not receive your full payment card number or complete Apple billing details; payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. Subscription-related events may also be reported to our advertising measurement partners to help us understand whether our ads led to subscriptions.

Feedback and support

  • If you use in-app feedback, we collect the email address, message, and optional name you submit so we can respond or improve the App.

2. How We Use Information

  • Provide the service — authenticate you, store and sync your saved content, run the Share Extension flow, and show your library.
  • AI-assisted categorization — to suggest titles, categories, tags, and short descriptions, we send text metadata about saved items (such as titles, descriptions, and URLs) to OpenAI. When helpful for classification, we may also send image-related inputs (for example, an image URL we deem safe to transmit, or image data we fetch and process on our servers for that purpose). We do not send your email address or account identifiers to OpenAI for this purpose.
  • Subscriptions — determine whether you are on a free or paid plan and enforce plan limits.
  • Notifications — if you opt in, send planning-related reminders or similar messages you have agreed to; honor in-app notification preferences where we offer them.
  • Email — send operational or internal emails needed to run the App (for example, routing feedback you submit to our team). New-account alerts to our team may include basic signup details (such as email) so we can operate support and fraud prevention.
  • Advertising measurement — measure and improve the effectiveness of WedThread's own marketing on platforms such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and TikTok. This includes sharing app event and limited account-related data (such as user ID and email, which may be hashed by the partner) with those platforms so we can understand installs, sign-ups, and subscriptions that may have resulted from our ads. We do not show third-party advertising inside the App based on selling your data to ad networks.
  • Optional sharing — if you enable sharing for a collection, to host and display that collection to visitors who open your share link, until you turn sharing off or delete your account.
  • Security and integrity — protect accounts, investigate abuse, and maintain reliable operation.

3. Third-Party Services

We rely on service providers who process information on our behalf:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, file storage, and backend functions. Privacy Policy If you use optional shared collection links, shared pages may be served using our backend and hosting infrastructure (including Supabase and related hosting used to serve share links). Visitors who open a link interact with that infrastructure; we do not require them to create an account.
  • OpenAI — AI processing for categorization and related suggestions. Privacy Policy

  • Resend — email delivery for certain App-related messages (such as feedback submissions and internal notifications). Privacy Policy
  • Meta (Facebook) — App Events SDK for measuring the performance of our advertising on Meta platforms. Meta may receive app events, device/advertising identifiers (depending on your iOS tracking choice), user ID, and email (including hashed email for matching, where enabled). Meta Privacy Policy

  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, Apple Push Notification service (APNs), and (where applicable) App Tracking Transparency. Apple's privacy notices apply to those Apple services.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data Sharing

We share information with the providers above only as needed to operate the App, measure our advertising, or as otherwise described in this Policy. We may also share information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a legitimate business transfer (such as a merger), subject to applicable law.

Advertising measurement: When you use the App, we share certain information with Meta and TikTok as described above. This is so we can run and measure our own ads for WedThread outside the App—not to display ads to you inside the App. On iOS, you may be asked whether the App can track your activity across other companies' apps and websites; your choice affects how much measurement data those partners can associate with you.

5. Storage and Security

We use industry-standard protections, including encryption in transit (such as TLS). Your content is stored in cloud infrastructure with access controls. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

6. Retention

We keep your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the App. If you delete your account through the App, we delete or anonymize associated personal data and user content in line with our systems' capabilities and legal requirements. If you turn off sharing for a collection, we disable the associated link; we may retain technical records (such as that a link existed) as needed for security and operations. Advertising partners may retain data they receive according to their own retention policies.

7. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and correction — view and edit saved items and many account-related details in the App.
  • Delete content — delete individual saves in the App.
  • Delete account — use the in-app account deletion flow; this is intended to remove your account data from our systems.
  • Notifications — use iOS Settings and any in-app controls we provide to manage push notifications.
  • Tracking (iOS) — use the iOS prompt ("Allow App to Track") and Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking to control whether WedThread can use your device advertising identifier for cross-app measurement on iOS 14.5 and later. Denying tracking does not stop you from using the App; it limits how precisely we and our ad partners can attribute app activity to our ads.
  • Shared collections — choose whether to share a collection, whether to include notes on the shared view, and copy or send the link only to people you trust. Manage or turn off shared links anytime in the App under Settings → Shared collections (or the sharing controls in the share flow). Turning sharing off revokes access for anyone using that link going forward. Links in old messages may still show a preview image or title from when the link was active; the page itself will no longer be available after you turn sharing off.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (for example, access, portability, or objection). Contact us using the details below and we will respond consistent with applicable law.

8. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

9. International Users

If you use the App from outside Canada, your information may be processed in countries where we or our providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

10. Changes

We may update this Policy. We will post the updated version and revise the effective date. If changes are material, we will provide notice as required by law or through the App.
